Born in Kingston, Jamaica, on February 18, 1967, Joanna Marie is a trailblazing artist whose Jamaican and Venezuelan heritage infuses her music with a rich blend of rhythm, passion, and authenticity. A bilingual reggae and jazz vocalist, pianist, composer, producer, and entrepreneur, Joanna’s artistry spans over three decades of groundbreaking work in reggae, soul, and jazz.

Discovered by South Florida radio legend Clint O’Neil, “The Godfather of Reggae Music,” Joanna made her debut in 1986 with “Single Girl,” followed by “I’m So Thankful” in 1987 — both becoming South Florida hits that launched her into the spotlight. Following her early success, Joanna was professionally managed by Copeland Forbes, who took her on her first tour, helping establish her presence as a live performer and expanding her reach across audiences.

In 1994, Joanna released her first album, Simply Irresistible, under the Kariang Record Label, produced by Benjy Myaz and Mikey Chung, and executive produced by Jah T (Tony Chin Loy). The album featured her groundbreaking single “Sea of Love,” making Joanna the first female reggae artist to sing Spanish reggae — a cultural milestone that helped bridge Latin and Caribbean audiences. The album also featured standout tracks such as “Rhinestone Cowgirl,” “Mi Amor,” and “Good E Nuff.”

Joanna’s studio career is equally impressive. She has recorded and performed alongside reggae greats such as John Holt, Dennis Brown, and Gregory Isaacs — including Gregory Isaacs’ final performance at the Cameo Theatre in Miami. She also provided background vocals for the legendary Garnet Silk, further cementing her place among the elite voices who helped shape the golden era of reggae music.

In 2025, Joanna made a triumphant return with her acclaimed album Covered in Soul, released under her own label Global Digital Records. The project reintroduces her timeless voice through a mix of soulful reinterpretations and original works — a vibrant celebration of love, strength, and evolution that captures her essence as both artist and woman.

Joanna has also produced an extensive catalog of music in collaboration with her husband, reggae luminary Ed Robinson, blending their creative strengths to craft powerful productions that reflect unity, versatility, and passion. Together, they’ve forged a unique sound that bridges traditional reggae, soul, and international influences — an ongoing partnership that continues to inspire fans around the world.

Beyond her artistry, Joanna is the co-founder of Reggae Global Radio, launched in 2020 alongside Ed Robinson and her daughter Melissa Chin Loy. The station has become an international hub for reggae lovers — a global platform dedicated to celebrating the culture, connecting artists, and sharing conscious music with the world.

Through Global Digital Records, Joanna has also produced the acclaimed DI JUGGLIN compilation series, uniting both emerging and established reggae talents:
